Our notes to you on the Corona virus / COVID-19
- Don’t panic.
- Keep your hands clean and away from your face.
- The most common symptoms include fever, cough, and congestion.
- Most kids who get this will have mild symptoms and can be treated at home.
- There is currently no cure for COVID-19, and antibiotics will only be used in the instance of secondary infection. Antibiotics will not be prescribed to treat COVID-19.
- If your child has a chronic medical condition such as diabetes, asthma, or heart disease and develops symptoms of COVID-19, don’t hesitate to call and check in with us.
- If your child develops symptoms and there is any history of travel outside the U.S. or to a “hot spot” in the U.S. (currently Seattle and NYC) in the last 30 days, or close contact with someone who has traveled, please alert the staff when you call.
- If your child develops mild symptoms, plan to stay home for the duration of the illness. Avoid public places, schools, and especially the elderly.
- Please be patient with us as we go through this time. Call volumes will be heavier and wait times potentially longer. We may need to ask you to reschedule a well visit in order to accommodate the need for more sick appointments. Please bear with us. We will get through this, together.
- Bottom line: Don’t panic. Call us if you’re concerned about your child. We will work through this time as a team, just like always.
We love you guys,
Your team at Blackmon Pediatrics.
